The Deschutes Children’s Forest (DCF) is excited to welcome Katie Chipko as the new Deschutes Children’s Forest Coordinator. Katie is a lover of all places wild and comes to Central Oregon from the North Cascades in Washington. She has five years of experience working in the environmental education field, both at North Cascades Institute and Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center in Oregon. Katie has a deep passion for providing meaningful opportunities for children in the outdoors and brings enthusiasm, creativity, and motivation to the Deschutes Children’s
Katie is a High Desert Education Service District employee and will be splitting her time between the Bend Education Center and the Forest Service office (that is when she’s not out in the field working with teachers and students or talking with prospective DCF Partners!) She will be working in collaboration with a wide range of organizations, agencies, schools and businesses to implement the DCF Strategic Plan. She is incredibly excited to dig into the project and the Central Oregon community. Please join us in welcoming her to the Deschutes Children’s Forest!
