The Children’s Forest of Central Oregon, in partnership with Discover Your Forest and the Forest Service, invite you to join us as we promote the National Day of Unplugging! We are inspired to challenge our community to take an intentional hiatus from devices for 24 hours – from sundown March 6th through sundown March 7th. We hope to encourage Central Oregon residents to get outside, play a game, or find an opportunity to disconnect from technology; connecting instead with ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities.
Check out this facebook event page as a space for community members and organizations to share ideas for outings, photos and answers to the pledge “I Unplug To…”, as well as encourage each other to participate in turning off our beloved devices for 24 hours. The Children’s Forest has also put together this National Day of Unplugging Ideas list for families in Central Oregon.
The National Day of Unplugging has great resources on their platform for ideas on how to unplug youth, how to unplug as a family or company, and more! To download the pledge poster and see the official National Day of Unplugging resources online, visit https://www.nationaldayofunplugging.com/ or check them out on one of their social platforms: Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Use #NationalDayofUnplugging, and tag @DiscoverYourForest in your pledge poster posts so we can spread the word!
The Children’s Forest of Central Oregon and our partners have no direct relation to NDU, nor to their associated events. There will be no exchange of goods or finances; we simply believe this could be a great opportunity for our community at large, and hopefully a way to connect with partners far and wide. Whether you are a steward of our public spaces, a conservationist, adventurer or a tech-exhausted grump, join us in challenging ourselves to enjoy life for 24 hours without technology!
